I watched with little encouragement through the window of my room because I could not do anything else. Today was a rainy day, and you could hardly take two steps out of the house without stepping in a puddle or having a wet half of your body. I loved the rain, but without needing to exaggerate so much, everything has an admissible limit, and that was affected by the simple fact that if the weather was bad, I could not see James, and that was what I loved the most in the long hours of the day.

“Hey, Sara.” I lifted my head from my knees looking at my brother with a frown, the way he always had Mom’s apron on and stained with food scraps and marks from his own hands. He must have done something with flour since there was white residue in his hair, it was getting to be kind of funny.
