Kieran’s POV

“Saffron is with my mother.”

My brain short-circuited. I must be dreaming at this point because there’s no way, in reality, he just said what I think he said. Everything was happening too fast, and I felt like I was losing touch with reality. My mind kept looping that sentence, trying to make sense of it: Saffron is with my mother. That couldn’t be real.

I don’t know how long I stood there, frozen, until Tobias shook my shoulders.

“Kieran. Kieran, snap out of it,” he said under his breath, trying to keep his voice low.

My lips parted before the words even fully formed in my mind. “What… what do you mean?” I asked after I finally found my voice. “Saffron? My sister? With your mom?” My voice rose with each question until I was almost shouting.

“Shhhh,” Tobias hissed, quickly covering my mouth. “We can’t trust anyone at this moment. Not with Lilith in the pack.”
