Tobias’ POV

I was furious with myself for letting her get hurt. I should’ve kept her safe, far away from Magnus. Instead, I let her join the pursuit, convinced we could handle it. I should’ve been more careful, but somehow she ended up hurt. Seeing her wolf form groaning on the ground nearly made me lose my mind.

My wolf was pacing inside me, growling and snarling, blaming me for her injury. And he was right.

But the woman in question? She was now sitting on the infirmary bed, laughing. Laughing about pretending to be unconscious, like I hadn’t just nearly lost my mind watching her bleed in front of me.

She probably has no clue about what I went through. And the worst part? As I look at her now… I couldn’t even stay mad.

“Tobias,” she called me softly after Kieran and Elara left.
