Elara’s POV
Every tree was a blur as Nyx’s paws pounded through the forest. The forest air reeked of Kieran’s rage. It was sharp and electric, tangled with the shredded scent of earth where his claws had torn deep gouges into the ground. We followed his scent like a map, but no matter how fast we ran, there was still no sign of him ahead.
“Kieran?” I called through the link, but I was met with complete silence.
Panic started gnawing at my ribs. What if he’s gone too far? What if I can’t find him on time?
“Elara,” Nyx’s voice cut through my spiraling. “Think about the marks. It will glow, and that will help us to be faster.”
“I don’t know if that’ll work. The marks always glow whenever I’m angry,” I said.
“I don’t know, but a thought just came into my head that if you think about it, it’ll start glowing. Just try. There’s no harm in trying.” She egged on.
