The stone shattered the glass, and for a single, agonizing heartbeat, the world stopped. A deafening silence, more terrifying than any scream, fell over the hall. It was like the calm before the storm. Then, a second stone, and a third, crashed through the other windows, followed by the distant shouts of my pack members.
“Alpha Kieran!” Alex’s voice was a low growl of alarm, but I was already moving. The power of the full moon was pulling at us all. I could feel its power, the primal energy coursing through my veins, sharpening my senses to an almost painful degree.
“Warriors outside! Now!” My voice, amplified by my Alpha command and the moon’s power, cut through the rising panic. “Astrid, lead the women and children to the back. Saffron, you stay here with Elara. Barricade the doors. Now!”
