Nate's POV

“She’s not breathing,” I said as we rushed her to the ER, where Vera was waiting with her team.

“Stay outside.” One of them said as the door closed right in front of us.

“I distracted her, it was all my fault,” Layla said, and I went to hold her immediately.

“There’s no way any of us could have known there was something wrong with her car, so it wasn’t your fault. What happened would probably still have happened if you did not say anything to her.”

“That doesn’t make me feel any better. I just hope she’s fine.” I hugged her. Andrew, who had stayed behind to check what had happened with the car, returned with bolts in his hands.

“Three bolts loosened, and there were many other things we found wrong, which made me think this wasn’t intentional. Someone wanted to do this to her.” Andrew said as Ralph went to look through the door holes to see how she was doing.

“Wait till I get my hands on whoever it is. I am going t
