Layla’s POV

As Nate and the others returned from their raid, relief flooded through me at the sight of them all in one piece. But beneath my joy, worry gnawed at my heart. Alpha Augustus wouldn't take this attack lightly, and retaliation was inevitable. As we gathered around, I voiced my concerns, meeting Nate's determined gaze.

"I am sure Augustus won't let this slide," I warned, my voice tinged with apprehension.

Nate nodded, his expression grave. "What we did was necessary. We need to be prepared for whatever comes next."

"But what if Augustus decides to retaliate?" one of our pack mates, Jack, interjected, his eyes darting nervously between us.

"We'll face it head-on, just like we always do," Nate reassured him, though I could sense the tension coiling beneath his calm facade.

"But what if it's more than we can handle?" Sarah, another member of our pack, chimed in, her voice trembling slightly.

"We stick together," I int
