Augustus’s POV

As I stepped out into the crisp night air, the moon casting its ethereal glow upon the forest, I couldn’t shake the feeling of unease that had settled deep within me. Marcus’s sudden appearance had shattered the fragile peace that I had worked so hard to maintain in my pack.

I have been a little worried about him for a lot of reasons which could be dangerous things revealed to others.

“Marcus,” I growled.

Marcus met my gaze with a cool demeanor, his eyes gleaming with a hint of amusement. “Why did you seek me out of everyone’s?” he asked all of a sudden.

“What do you mean?”

“I had an eye-opener while I was with Nate. You are hiding something from me.”

“Come, we should talk,” I said as I tried to get him away from the prying eyes of everyone.

He walked with me slowly.

“There is a reason but it is not the time to tell you why yet.”
