I arched an eyebrow.
“As far as I know, werewolves should suffer interference based on the type of moon in the sky. The phases of the moon are important even for humans. It’s science.”
“We were not made by nature, human,” said Randall in a gentle tone, but with a sharp look. “Our race was created by the very science you venerate so much.”
“However,” the leader intervened, receiving a warning look from the alpha. “We are bound by this curse, and we can’t endure it forever. We need a cure, a way to escape the witch’s magic. If the moon holds the answer, then we should give Stella a chance to find it.”
Randall sighed, but didn’t react. As an alpha, I thought the final word should be his, but something seemed off. I had already noticed that he seemed downcast in recent days— not in the way someone is sick, but in the way someone thinks too much.
