Randall did not seem resentful about having to answer.
“I had a common childhood. I grew up, learned to hunt, protected my brothers and sisters. My parents were killed by creatures of the night. Beings without faces who usually invade our properties to take away all the best. They are creatures that feed on despair. He was the alpha. I became the next in the lineage by a twist of fate. This made my brothers hate me deeply. To this day, they hate me, as you must have noticed.”

This explained why their oldest seemed so spiteful and grumpy. He must be the most resentful for not having ascended to power in place of his brother.
