Chapter 49
I seemed to be getting ready to open my mouth again, but I shut up. I started thinking about a possibility... If Leanna knew she would be replaced, why did she stay away from me? Why did she avoid me? She had already been by my side, with her clothes touching mine so closely, and she didn’t even make a point of recognizing me. She thought that ignoring my presence would cause me not to exist, or was there something else?
I turned to Kelly, ready to expose a very crazy theory that seemed to be going through my head, but something made her turn her face toward the shed door. I got tense and prepared to run if that group of vampires had followed us, but I heard curses and complaints, instead of screams. Kelly got up quickly, listening to something other than me with her wolf ears. She ran out of the shed, without looking back, and I didn’t have much left but to follow her.
There was a bonfire that night—just like in all the others—but around the bonfire, it was not Randall’
