I started working on the bolt behind my right wrist, using my fingernails to scrape away the old mortar and concrete even though it was making my fingers bleed and every movement sent pain shooting up my arm.
It was slow work and I had to stop every few minutes to listen for footsteps on the stairs but it was better than sitting here doing nothing and waiting for whatever Daxon had planned next.
The wolfsbane was making me dizzy and nauseous but I forced myself to keep working because I knew that if I stopped now I might not have the strength to start again.
My wolf was fighting the effects of the drug and lending me what power she could but it wasn’t enough and I could feel myself getting weaker with every breath I took.
I thought about Tristan and how he must be feeling right now if he had discovered I was missing and couldn’t feel me through our bond.
I thought about how panicked and angry he would be and how he would probably do
