“That ring...”
The words slipped out.
"Oh?" Alisha blinked innocently. "Does it look like something you've seen?" she asked, waving her fingers with the ring on.
Vanessa stared hard at her. "It is. It was designed for me." The more Vanessa stared at it, the more she thought of Alisha as shameless. Flaunting something which didn't belong to her. Fearlessly.
Vanessa stood slowly. Her voice was calm, low, but sharp enough that it could cut through glass. "Take that off."
Alisha blinked, feigning innocence. "Take what off?"
"You know what I’m talking about. That ring isn’t yours."
Alisha raised her hand, admiring the sparkle like she hadn’t heard a thing. "But it fits so well, don’t you think? Seems like it was made for me. Doesn't it?" she said, the last word with a slight twitch on her lips.
"It doesn't belong to you," Vanessa insisted. "You stole it."
Alisha laughed. "Prove it."
