Chapter 103
Dalia’s POV
Home.
I stood in front of our dainty gate and breathed in a sigh of relief but also felt a pang of longing and loneliness in my chest.
I might have left New York but a big part of me stayed there. Chelsea wiped her head with the back of her hand and let out a relieved sigh.
“The heat is so welcomed. I forgot how hot it can get in this part of America,” she said and bumped my shoulder with hers.
“Feeling good over there?” She asked and I shrugged. I could be better but I could also be worse, so I guess I’m fine.
Our front door burst open and Mom came out onto the porch, smiling brightly. “Dalia, pumpkin, is that you?” She squinted her eyes and tried to see us properly.
“Mama!!!” I plastered a huge smile on my face and ran to meet her, feeling safe and happy in her embrace at once. I felt like breaking down but held myself together. If I started crying, she would be worried and I didn’t want to stress her out. Just yet.
