Chapter 53. If I Die

Samuel held Amy carefully on his chest so her back wouldn’t touch his body. He pressed her back with his handkerchief to stop the bleeding. She moaned because of the pain in her back. 

“Hurry, Miguel!” his voice pitched high. 

“If I die—”

Samuel touched a finger to Amy’s lips, trying to stop her from talking. “You won’t die, darling. The doctors will take care of you well.”

Amy shed her tears and held Samuel’s hand. “If I die … please take care of Jillian for me.” Her voice trembled. “Samuel, promise me you will help Jillian.”

“Shh, no need to ask that. I have already done it for you, my sweet. Now, relax. We will arrive at the hospital soon. Take a deep breath.”
