Chapter 30
Kelvin’s POV
I woke up in the early hours of the morning and missed the warmth of Grace’s body. It had been five days since our lovemaking, and yesterday, the kids left for their camping trip with Kira. It was just the two of us now, I reasoned, and the thought filled me with excitement.
I threw my covers off and moved to the bathroom. A few minutes later, I was downstairs for a cup of coffee. It was still dark outside, and I was surprised to find Grace in the kitchen making breakfast.
“Good morning, Grace,” I said with a smile and moved behind her to kiss her neck.
“Good morning, Kelvin. I thought I would make breakfast,” she said quickly, and I realized she was acting odd.
“You don’t have to keep doing that now that the children are gone. I can fix myself a quick meal; you didn’t have to bother.”
“Right,” she said and hurried off to pick up a mug. “I made you coffee, just the way you like it,” she said and handed me a mug of black coffee.
