Chapter 31
Grace’s POV
The children were excited to be in the store; I could see it from their excited stares and hushed whispers. We were in a pharmacy, but it could have been an aquarium for all they cared. I carried Daisy in my arms and watched the boys walking ahead of me. The camping trip had turned out to be the highlight of their lives, and they couldn’t stop talking about it.
I guided them into an aisle and swallowed hard when the fear kicked in again.
“I’m not pregnant,” I muttered inwardly.
I had missed my period for a month, and I was certain the pills were acting up. There was a dull ache in my breasts, and I had thrown up my salad twice in a row. It couldn’t be a coincidence, I reasoned.
“This is only a false alarm,” I mumbled.
“What are you saying, Grace?” Daisy asked, looking at me intently.
I kissed her forehead quickly. “Nothing, honey. I’m just thinking aloud.”
