Chapter 70

Regina was fast asleep when she was suddenly jolted awake by some strange sounds coming from the window. Wiping her sleepy eyes with the back of her hands, she got out of bed to inspect the source of the sounds.

She turned on the bedside lamp, and a soft light illuminated the room. Frowning, she noticed the window was already open even though she had closed it before heading to bed. She went closer to look out of it for the source of the sounds. Just when she put her head out of the window, she caught sight of a figure in black running outside of the house.

She suspected it was definitely a robber, but Matthew and Sandra had a reasonable security team in their mansion; it would be surprising if a robber was able to get in despite that. A few minutes later, Regina opened her closet and took out a black dress, but when she was about to change out of her nightdress and alert Sandra about the robber, she heard a clicking sound coming from the door.
