Minnie gestured toward the couch. “Let’s sit and talk like civilized people.”
Emmeline obeyed, perching nervously on the edge of the sofa.
She wished Minnie would sit beside her like they used to, instead, the latter chose the chair directly across from her.

“No one told me about your relationship,” Minnie began in a voice calm but firm. “I figured it out on my own.”

“It started last night,” Minnie continued. “After everyone went to their suites, I realized my bag was missing. I went back to the restaurant to look for it, and when I returned to the fourth floor, I saw you.”
