Chapter 12. Weird Family
With a face full of anger, Sarah stepped out of the room. She stopped when she saw Matthew standing not far from her bedroom door. He nodded politely at her. His face was flat. He acted like an actual bodyguard.
Sarah gulped. She suddenly felt like crying and rushed into Matthew’s arms. She looked around and realized that her thought was impossible. Many pairs of eyes stalked them. Even the walls and floors could speak. That mansion was no different than a jail, a luxury one.
She continued her steps towards the dining room with a stiff, cold face typical of Victoria. Behind her, Matthew followed at a brisk pace. Several housekeepers they passed seemed to stop and nodded politely. Their faces couldn’t lie. They respect Victoria for real.
She could see Abbot’s family from a distance, except for Benjamin, sitting in silence. There was no warmth at the dinner table like other families. She wondered if Edward and Isabella didn’t know that their children hated each other
