The two mates stayed that way for what felt like an eternity.

And Lucien would not have let go if a gentle hand had not tapped on his shoulder.

He turned around to spot Rose.

Still holding his mate warmly in his arms, he turned around and gave Rose a tired look.

“Thank you,” he said with as much gratitude as he possibly could. He was ready to give Rose anything she asked, anything.

Rose smiled, a warmth passing through her body as she watched an alpha hold his mate tight.

But she was also worried, he was holding her tight, too tight.

“She needs rest,” she said gently, her tone warm but completely firm, “She’s healing pretty well, but right now, I do not think you should push her. Her body has been through so much already.”

Lucien nodded, and with a reluctant gaze, he slowly released his tight hold on his mate, “I won’t.”
