Chapter 20. The Wound that Never Heals
After her tense encounter with Riley, Aria walked back to the servant’s hall where she met Lily. The head servant was far less assertive than she usually was.
She had handed Aria a task and walked off. Hours later, Rose was currently showing Aria the ropes while they cleaned one of the courtyards of the castle.
“You should have seen her face, Aria.” Rose giggled, brushing a fallen strand of hair off her face, “It was as pale as a corpse.”
For what felt like the hundredth time in the past hour, Aria chuckled, her face was all smiles as she worked while Rose cracked jokes.
“Nah, stop lying.” her shoulders loosened. “She wasn’t that pale. To be honest with you, Rose, I was also as nervous as she was.”
“You did not show it though.” Rose leaned closer to Aria and added in a whisper that seemed to portray secrets, “I believe she was more nervous than you were. “
