Chapter 24
It was a letter inviting me to the royal ball at the palace this evening. The letter was my ticket to the event, as it had my name on it with a royal stamp. I was elated yet agitated at the same time. I did not know what to wear, feeling so confused that I needed help in picking the clothes. As usual, help was not far away.
I picked up a book on fashion and decided to go to the market to get a dress. I chose to wear red, all red, to showcase the real depths of my beauty. I carried thirty silver coins, all I had, to the clothes market. When I arrived, the woman welcomed me and showed me many dresses to select from. I would have been lost there if I had not already decided to put on a red gown, so I requested that she give me only red gowns to try on.
After trying many and complaining, we at last found the one that was perfect, and I wanted to purchase it immediately. I danced around the mirror, for I had never appeared so beautiful in my own eyes.
