Chapter 14. Research to the Rescue
“Who did you meet?” Their father leaned toward Elaine, almost over his wife’s body. “I want to know who she met. Maybe I know the guy?”
“Don’t worry about it,” Melvin said. “We’ll have more than enough time to quiz her later, but I really want us to write a book. Elaine has a proposal to make, and it would be beneficial for the company.”
“We do not discuss business affairs at the dinner table,” grandpa said.
Andrew nodded. Of course, Melvin knew that. There must be some game at play. Or something more than his eyes could see.
“Yes, but this is not a normal type of business proposition. It’s about us as a family.”
“Then how is this business? Unless you want to publish our memoirs, Elaine?” his mother asked.
“She can have a go at publishing Stephen’s stories. I bet everyone would want to read that,” the sarcasm in his grandpa’s voice was thinly veiled.
“Yes, dad.” His father missed it. “That’s a great idea.”
