Chapter 24. Wild Thumping Heart
Juliet doesn’t know how long she’s been sitting alone in the same position and the same place. Maybe it has been a minute? Two minutes? An hour? Two hours?
Or perhaps several hours?
She doesn’t know.
This is because since the guards locked her up and she crumbled down to the floor, she has done nothing but cry, cry, and cry. She didn’t even make a move to get up. Her eyes are bright red and swollen.
BEEP
BEEP
At this moment, Juliet’s phone begins ringing. Perhaps for the hundredth time in a few hours. Juliet doesn’t even bother to spare the phone a glance, let alone answer it. She feels like her whole world has come crashing down in just a few days.
The wall she had suffered to build up for years has come crashing down without any mercy. It was utterly useless now.
Slowly, she curls up on the cold floor. Her heart feels cold and numb just like the floor.
More tears slowly start streaming down her cheeks, wetting the floor.
