Chapter 10
As long as Jeremy could remember, very few things could surprise him. Although he seemed oblivious of many things, he wasn't really as dense as he looked to people. He hadn't seen much in life so few things could get a reaction out of him. Most likely, he preferred not to react to much.
So it came as a big surprise to him in his bedroom when he groggily opened his eyes that next morning and turned to face one side.
Only to meet the gaze of Mandy.
Jeremy turned to the other side and mumbled something incoherent before closing his eyes to resume his sleep.
Then it clicked.
Jeremy's eyes flew open and he turned around to be certain he wasn't dreaming. Sure enough, Mandy was there. She sat Indian style on his bed few inches away from him with the blank look on her face.
"What the...." Jeremy flew out of his bed to the far end of his room, clutching his chest in fright. Shiela waddled towards him, wagging her tail.
"Wow. And a good morning to you, too."
