Chapter 51

Dahlia stepped into the manor with a faint beat of the heart. Gerard had seen her off and he had gone home. She heard the clock chime chime three times signalling 3:AM. She turned towards the east wing of the house passed by the guards who gave her a worried gaze. 

"Lady Dahlia." They rushed towards her. "Are you.."

"I am alright." She assured them.

She saw the sceptical look on their faces.

"I assure you I am fine." She insisted.

They shrugged and returned to their post. Dahlia resumed her movements, inwardly cursing herself for not taking care of her wild appearance before stepping into the building. But now all she needed was a long rest and high hopes that the witch would never return to the house. With her kind of luck for the past few hours, the latter seemed unlikely.
