Chapter 61
The sun rose slowly in the sky, signalling the beginning of a new day. It's rays penetrated through a window into the room where Jeremy lay on the bed. He was still unconscious and his mum sat on the chair by his bedside. Shiela sat beside her with her ears dropped and a sullen look on her face. They watched as Jeremy's chest rose and fell at a slow pace signifying that he was still alive. But the fact that he was yet to open his eyes after more than twelve hours was a cause of worry.
An empty look reflected in June's eyes as she grasped her son's hand. Her eyes watered and she struggled to keep the tears away.
"I should have stayed back." She sniffed. "I shouldn't have left him to go on his own."
'It would not have made a difference,Juniper.' Shiela nudged her knee. 'And you know it.'
"But still.." June made to protest.
