Why would the goddess of witches, Circe, treat the humans in their charge with such scorn and disrespect? If everything was made, why should she teach the witches to revere the things that were created? Wouldn't there be someone who was not created but who produced everything if there weren't any? Someone more powerful beyond all things?
However, there was a logical reason behind it. If Circe believed that humans were a sickness that afflicted the land, it would follow that the goddess would oppress them in the name of the greater power of the earth to exist. Right? In Lava's mind, if the magic was not intended to serve mankind, but was instead created to serve them, treating humans as servants and slaves would not seem so ridiculous.
However, according to this viewpoint, killing humans may even be a good thing. Perhaps this was also the reason why the goddess went to such great pains to safeguard the births of pure witches in the coven, yet induced miscarriages on the witches
