Chapter 17. I Love Matt

Kate's POV

“Is this supposed to be how you welcome me?” Matt inquired, making me feel embarrassed.

“I…wasn’t actually…” I held my words. I didn't want to continue with a comment. I wasn’t expecting him, though, but that was not as important as how he got to know my room and why he was here. “How did you know I live here?”

He just slipped his free hand into his pocket and posed, looking at me as if I had just asked some dumb query. He held his head down, then up.

“It’s cold. Are you not letting me in?” he grinned, gnashing his teeth in his jaws. “Have you forgotten you filled some forms before you were picked?”

“Cool!” I exclaimed, raising my hands to accept defeat. Meanwhile, I was still astonished and afraid to see him there. I was so uncomfortable as he wanted to come inside. We had nothing nice—no food nor, at least, some drinks, not to talk about snacks!
