Kindness?

I looked at him, surprised; I was not expecting this question. I don’t want to lie to him per se. I can’t tell him the exact truth. However, I am sure he must have sensed something was wrong between my pack and me since I had a little outburst earlier.

“Let’s just say I don’t have the most affectionate family or pack. I was tired of putting up with them, so I ran away,” I answered him vaguely, and I felt horrible for doing so since he gave me a place to stay.

He searched my face for a moment but then just nodded and said, “Okay, that is understandable. Your room must be ready. You can have a bath in there, and I will ask Cindy to bring you a change of clothes,” he said, and I was grateful for all his help, but I also had to ask him for one more thing.
