Chapter 48. Lucifer's Visit
“Jasmine…”
Jasmine was fast asleep but the whispering of her name troubled her quiet night rest. She was still trying to make head or tail whether she indeed heard her name. She was laying next to Max. Meliae was laying a few paces away from them but didn’t keep her distance from the campfire.
An hour ago before they all fall asleep in the woods, Max made a fire to provide light and warmth as they sleep. The bright light of the fire whispers hisses, sizzling pops, and a thick, intoxicating smell of musky smoke.
“Jasmine…”
The whispering continued and this time sounded closer as if the person whisperer brought the mouth closer to Jasmine’s ear.
Jasmine wanted to dismiss the incident. She was already tired and needed some rest. It’s gonna be a hectic day at dawn.
