Chapter 41. A Mistake

Anna’s annoyance and anger toward Zac faded a bit, she liked that he was standing up for her. She did not feel alone, making her feel even more bolder and braver. 

Liam was impressed, but that did not mean that he was not annoyed or even pissed. “I guess you do have a brain.” He chuckled, directing his words at Zac. 

Zac tightened his arms on his chest and it was clear that he wanted to reply in a smart way but he also knew that this was not about his ego but about protecting Anna, the girl that he loved. “Just hear us out, that is all we’re asking.” 

“Okay…why do you two want to quit? I keep saying this, wait until the month ends and when you two get paid, you will have very different and positive opinions about being a part of this family.” 

“I got—I mean we got a death threat,” Anna blurted out, correcting herself. “Someone slid a note under our door last night and it said that if we don’t quit, we will die.” 

Liam’s interest was pi
