Chapter 76. The Firm

Anna lowered herself into the chair, her back stiff, hands clenching into fists in her lap. Zac sat beside her, but she could tell he was on edge. How could he not be? They were in the presence of Victor. 

Zac’s posture was rigid…almost too rigid. He had his fingers tapping lightly against his thigh–a nervous tic she noticed. 

Victor leaned back in his chair, studying them with an air of amusement, as if they were nothing more than pieces in a game he was effortlessly controlling. “Where are the contracts?” 

“It’s right here,” Anna replied, taking out her phone and unlocking it so she could access the email. When she did, she handed the device to the man. 

Victor took it and then clicked the file open. He stared at the screen of the phone for a few long seconds and then he smiled in satisfaction. “This is good. Send it to my email and my lawyers will start working on them soon. We will probably file a motion soon too.” 

Anna nodded, ta
