Chapter 90. A Million Dollars

With a wide eye, Anna kept staring at the check in her hand. She wondered if it was her imagination or whether it was an illusion from the dim light in the living room.

The number was huge. She lifted her head and locked eyes with Sue. “This is a check for half a million dollars.” Her voice betrayed how shocked and taken aback by all of this she was. 

“Yes, I know,” Sue replied. “That’s the point, I’m paying you to leave the company.”

“Wow,” Anna said to herself.

“It’s not like you want to be there anyway, so just consider it as a bonus.” She chuckled, fixing her bag on her lap. “I should be paying you more but right now, this is all I can afford, considering that I want to work on fixing the company.” 

Anna scoffed faintly. “I don’t even know what to say,” She confessed. “I just—-I just…”

Sue placed her checkbook back into her bag and sighed while standing up. “I should get going, I have a lot to do.” She nodded once at the girl.
