Chapter 97. Apologies

Anna dropped the call and stared at the view for a few seconds, her heart rate steady, but there was a slight sense of nervousness dancing in her gut. 

She walked away from the window and went to the kitchen to get something to drink. Opening the cabinet, she took out a glass and filled it up by using the water from the dispenser and drank the whole thing.

Then she put the glass on the kitchen island and sighed. She had told her brother to give her parents twenty thousand and tell them that it was from her pay.

She did not want to give them too much because she feared that they would start to get suspicious and maybe even worried.

She knew how her mom usually got. The woman already wanted her to go back and leave New York.

Anna got her phone and made another call. This one was to Zac. The guy picked up on the fourth ring. He didn’t say anything and Anna could tell that he was only trying to be careful.

“It’s me…it’s Anna,” She said and a sigh
