Chapter 167. Guard Quarters
After Victor left for his meeting, Anna remained at the table, finishing her meal as the maids moved around her, clearing plates and wiping surfaces.
After her call with her brother and returning to the dining table, the guy had suddenly stood to his feet and said that he was leaving and had a very important meeting.
Anna didn’t complain, why would she?
Her mind was still spinning with the weight of everything…Victor’s suspicions, Kevin’s urgency, and the fact that she had no idea where to find the guard who had her trapped in this mess.
She glanced at one of the older maids, a woman with a sharp but kind face. Maybe she could help.
“Excuse me,” Anna said softly, keeping her voice casual. “I’m looking for one of the guards…but I don’t know his name.”
The maid gave her a puzzled look. “There are many guards, miss. Can you describe him?”
