Chapter 172. A School Day
Here, people laughed, hurried to class, and lived their lives freely, something Anna craved for. Something that she couldn’t afford to take for granted.
As the car pulled up, the driver didn’t say a word, just waited for her to step out. She hesitated for half a second, then forced herself to move.
Once her feet hit the pavement, she felt an odd sense of relief. Here, she wasn’t just Victor’s prisoner. She was Anna, a student.
Here, she was normal. And that made her happy. But that didn’t mean she could drop her guard though.
She still had to look over her shoulders and make sure a gun wasn’t pointed at or something.
As if on cue, Anna glanced over her shoulder, expecting to see someone watching her, Victor’s men, maybe even Victor himself. But there was no one.
Still, she knew better than to assume she was truly alone.
