Carlos exhaled heavily, running a hand through his hair. “Then I’ll be there. I’ll figure out a way to get in.”

Anna looked at him, considering. “Are you sure you want to do this? First, meeting your father, then this. It’s going to be a rollercoaster. Are you up for it?”

He chuckled weakly, a look in his eyes that she could not read. “Yeah, don’t worry about me. Just please turn your phone on and keep me updated.” He flashed her a small grin.

They stopped walking since they were getting a bit too close to the mansion now. It was now time for them to part ways.

“Okay,” Anna said. “I will keep you updated then.” She peeled her eyes off him. Her heart was thumping in her chest, and guess why?
