Chapter 63. Custody
Detective Willie’s expression shifted from surprise to intense curiosity. He gestured for the girl to sit down, his eyes locking onto hers with an urgency that made her heart race even faster.
“What do you mean, you know where the Marinos are?” he asked, leaning forward. He could not be any more interested.
Anna took a deep breath, steadying herself. “Carlos… he came to me.” She saw the look on the guy’s face when she said this but wanted to clear it up really quick, so she continued, “He wants to help take down his family. He gave me information—locations, plans, everything.”
Detective Willie looked skeptical; he did not trust Carlos or anyone who had the last name that went by Marino. But there was a glimmer of hope in his eyes.
“Carlos Marino? Are you sure you can trust him?” Because the truth was that he could not, but he did want to close this case finally, so he was willing to listen or hear Anna out.
