Chapter 64. Oh, Sweet Victory

The drive home was a blur for Anna, her mind racing with thoughts of what had just transpired. Her family huddled close to her, a mixture of relief and lingering worry on their faces. As they reached their house, the familiar sight brought a small measure of comfort, but the recent events had irrevocably changed everything.

It was all like a dream to them. They could not believe that it had all just happened and played out like that. This was indeed a miracle, but although this had happened, they still had some anxiety.

Detective Willie’s team had indeed acted swiftly and decisively, though. It was impressive. The Marinos, once untouchable, were now in custody, their reign of terror seemingly at an end. Yet, Anna knew better than to let her guard down completely. There was always the possibility of unforeseen complications.

There was always a chance for disaster. Anna and her family had been taught that. There was always a possibility was things to get worse.
