Chapter 7. Reconnecting

She stood still, puzzled by his admission. How wasn’t she aware of this crucial piece of information? A million questions arose in her mind, but she felt tongue-tied suddenly, unable to ask him anything.

It felt good to know that he was at least single and a wave of hope welled up in her heart, causing her lips to stretch into a radiant smile. She didn’t know whether he remembered those few days of magic that they shared four years ago, but maybe she could try to rekindle that magic somehow. It was her only memory of him and she had cherished it for so long. Did he feel that way too? Maybe it didn’t mean a thing to him. He had so much on his plate to deal with than remember an orphan girl, seven years younger than him.

She got up and went back to the OT. She would avoid the sore topic of his marriage if it annoyed him so much.
