Chapter 28. My Parents

Nodding, I look at Luciano and back to him. "What are the chances that can happen to you, Lorenzo?" I'm scared as hell.

"It won't."

"Lorenzo, you can't say it won't if there is a chance."

His hands grasp my cheeks. "It's unlikely, okay? I mean this, if I get a warning and it looks likely to happen, I will hang up my gloves, I swear it to you."

Nodding, I cuddle against him.

"I won't leave you, Alice, I promise. I go for CT scans and everything."

Sitting, I look at him. Does he think I'm a fool? I'm not a fool. "Lorenzo, I know what CTE is and that it can't be found like that." I know I read up on it when I took up boxing. I know that CTE is something that can't be diagnosed with tests; it's a combination of things, but then it isn't a definite result.

"You're right. The only test for it can only be done during a biopsy, so how about this?" He looks at me. "If I have signs of it, I will stop."
