Chapter 34. His Words

I want her to speak to me, but she isn't and I know right now she won't because I'm looking at her. Sighing, I remove my hand so she can look away. I know that will help her inability to see my reaction. I don't move or speak, and wait for her to find the courage to tell me what happened, anything, even one word right now is better than nothing. It's better than silence and her trying to pretend like everything is fine.

"I don't know what happened. It was fine. Then I heard his words, and I panicked, and then I had a flashback of it as well," she whispers and I nod.

"What words, Alice?" I ask, hoping that it's something I can fix.

“Will you still want you when this is the punishment afterwards?” Her words are cried.

Her words cut me deep, trying to hollow me out. I hear her small whimper, but I stay back and give her a chance to talk.
