Chapter 67
James could only let out a tired sigh at Kaira as soon as Calix left. He is aware that his friend needs some time to himself in order to control his emotions and overcome his fury. "We just have to let him be on his own for the time being, Kaira. He needs this in order to pacify himself."
Without saying anything, Kaira has been focusing on her husband's receding figure. Although she is aware of what James said, she is obsessing over what Calix might be thinking. She shouldn't have bothered to talk to Drew right now—especially not here—because everything has become a complete mess. She made a mistake—a very significant one, at that—and she is unsure of how to correct it.
"I'm sure that he's going to be fine, Kaira. You know how Calix can be, but he'll get through this."
"I messed up, right?" She asks more to herself than to James, "but it isn't really what he is thinking. Whatever is going on in his mind is also wrong. Why would he even react that way?"
James
