Chapter 40

Mia walked down the stairs and found Alex sitting with her father, but none of them were talking to each other. 

Alex stood up as soon as he saw her. "Shall we?" He asked her.

She shook her head. "I have not got the chance to see my friends yet. Let me see them for a few minutes, then we shall leave," she said to him.

"Alright," he replied as he sat down.

Mia walked out of the pack house, and Jayden turned to Alex. "Does she trouble you?" He asked him, and Alex stared aloofly at him. He continued. "Do you like her?" He asked again, and Alex kept staring at him with a blank expression on his face.

Jayden got the hint that Alex did not want to talk, and he looked away and said nothing more to him.

Mia got to the spot where she and her friends usually hung out, and she saw them roasting a deer. "Planning on having a meal without me?" She asked, her hands on her waist, and they all turned in her direction and exclaimed in surprise.

"Mia!" T
