"Thank you," Mia managed to say, and Alex turned back to look at her. Her eyes were half closed, but he knew she could see him. "Thank you very much for saving me," she added, feeling her mouth and her throat dry.
Alex just stared at her, completely lost for words and not knowing what to say to her. She let go of his hand, and he looked away. "Get some rest," he finally spoke before he strode out of the room.
Mia sighed as she closed her eyes. The world had once again shown her that it was not just all about rainbows and unicorns, neither was it full of colors and butterflies. She felt aches all over her body as she pondered who was after her life.
She sighed again. Despite what the world was showing her, Mia refused to believe it was as bad as she was experiencing it. It was just a phase, she assured herself.
