Chapter 44

Mia stared at Alex as he analyzed her predicament before her. If what he was saying was true, would it mean that he would stop being Alex's partner in this mystery case? She pondered. 

Would Alex ask me to stop working with him on this case? She asked herself as she kept staring at him. 

Alex heaved as he pulled out of his world of thoughts. "I have a suggestion to make," he said as he kept a straight face while looking at her.

Here it comes, she thought as she closed her eyes, half expecting his suggestion to be what she thought, and half expecting it to not be.

"Since it is now obvious that you have become a target of someone we do not know about, you will not leave the pack house unless you're with me on a mission together," he said.

"I will not stop working on this..." She started to say until she realized that he had said something different. He stared at her with a raised brow. She swallowed. "I'm sorry, what did you say?" She asked him.
