Karen was shaken to the bones as she came down from the carriage and Killian held her. The sight of the dead men was gruesome and she almost gagged.

"Get back into the carriages. Let's leave this place," Alex said to them as he walked over to Mia. "Let's go," he said, more gently as he guided her back into the carriage.

She was visibly shaken as Alex led her back into the carriage and helped her in as he also got in. Karen and Killian got into their carriage and the coachman rode away. The Coachman of Alex and Mia's carriage followed suit.

Mia's breathing was ragged as she tried to stabilize it.

"Are you okay?" Alex asked her, but she could not respond. Mia was worried. The last two times she had encountered these people, they were just after her. Why? She pondered in worry.

Alex noticed her slightly shivering shoulders, and he took off his jacket and placed it over her shoulders. Mia looked at him, eyes widened by his strange gesture.
