Chapter 104. Day Six: First and Last (3)

Later that night

Despite her complaining all afternoon about how last minute the whole thing was, Aaron and Emily enjoyed a quiet day together, picking out clothes for the ball. It was just what he needed. A reminder of the old days. Then night came and he could not help resenting who he had on his arm as he descended the stairs. There was no getting away from it though. She was his fiancée.

Once Aaron and Keira were announced, he made the rounds with her, then went to find Emily. Right before he could get to her, however, Kate walked up to him. She took his hand and steered him away from the dance floor, to a quiet corner of the room.

Aaron: What is the big idea?

He glanced over at Emily, whose eyes were on the lookout for him. Kate followed his line of sight.

Kate: Do not worry, lover boy. This is business, not pleasure. I just need to pick your brain for a bit. On the road, Kendall shared that Calvin had someone pulling his strings.

Aaron: And
